Accounting is fun when the software plays along

Let’s be honest. Accounting is annoying. Especially for solo entrepreneurs and small businesses, bookkeeping often eats up time without generating revenue. That’s why it pays off to keep accounting as simple and efficient as possible from day one. Using professional accounting software helps optimize processes so you can get the job done quickly, even without deep accounting knowledge.

FreeFinance, accounting software for SMEs made in Austria

Our customer manubu has been offering FreeFinance for more than 10 years, an easy-to-use accounting solution with a strong focus on the Austrian market. The software includes a wide range of features across single entry and double entry bookkeeping, tax office filings, invoicing, fixed assets, travel expenses, and cash register functions. At the heart of it is the direct connection of bank accounts within the software.

“We are delighted to have found a competent and reliable partner in finAPI for connecting to banks. This enabled us to deliver a secure solution for retrieving our customers’ bank transactions, which saves a lot of time and effort in everyday business.”
Gerd Schaffer
Managing Director and Founder of manubu GmbH

98% of incoming payments are automatically reconciled

To connect bank accounts, FreeFinance relies on finAPI’s interface. This allows account transactions to be retrieved online via the PSD2 XS2A interface. Based on templates, customers’ and suppliers’ bank data, and invoice numbers, FreeFinance generates automated posting suggestions that only need to be confirmed. This way, up to 98% of payments can be reconciled automatically, as internal figures from manubu’s accounting show. Manual reconciliation is only required in a few cases, for example when a customer does not provide the correct invoice number on the transfer or withholds an incorrect discount amount.

For tax advisory and accounting firms

For advisors and their existing system landscape, the PSD2 Click & Connect product was developed. Here, the client completes the authentication in online banking via finAPI’s interface. The advisor can then conveniently retrieve the client’s bank statements to handle bookkeeping in full or in part. This works independently of the tax software being used. Under PSD2 rules, the client only needs to repeat the authentication via finAPI after 90 days. This helps standardize and automate bookkeeping processes. Data can also be exported for DATEV, BMD, and more. The wide range of functions makes work significantly easier for both sides.
